Pre-approved GLP-1 prescription scam could be bad for your health
A Malwarebytes piece reports a text-scams claiming a GLP-1 weight‑loss prescription has been pre-approved, purportedly from a doctor such as “Dr. Santos,” and urging recipients to click a link. The article notes that GLP‑1 drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are legitimate only when prescribed after an in-person consultation, and that no real provider would cold-text a random person about starting such treatment.
It also highlights cross‑jurisdictional red flags, including a Texas‑listed number for a recipient in California, a mismatched provider site, and a tracker subdomain used to identify victims, with a US IP visit triggering a Malwarebytes Browser Guard warning. According to EMA, there has been a sharp rise in illegal medicines marketed as GLP‑1 receptor agonists in the EU, with products often sold via fraudulent sites and on social media and not authorised or meeting quality standards.
Indicators of compromise listed by Malwarebytes include a phone number, +1(682) 416-2557, and domains such as andkovz[.]com, savezmeet[.]com and mystarthealth[.]com, alongside notes that MyStartHealth[.]com has been blocked since March 2025.
