SanDisk Hikes Prices as Storage Costs Continue to Climb
SanDisk has announced a 10% price increase across all consumer products and channel partner orders, effective for new purchases placed after 5 September 2025. The hike covers a range of storage devices, including solid-state drives, USB flash drives, and memory cards, and is attributed to surging demand from artificial intelligence applications, data centres and mobile devices.
The company notes it regularly conducts pricing reviews to reflect market conditions, though the article suggests these reviews often result in higher prices. SanDisk’s consumer lineup mainly consists of SSDs, USB drives, and memory cards, and the firm sources its flash memory chips from its former parent, Western Digital, which operates several NAND manufacturing facilities in Japan in partnership with Kioxia.
Given industry shifts toward DDR5 memory and high-bandwidth memory for data centres, the justification for the increase is not unfounded, though end-users will face higher prices for storage devices. The piece also notes that storage costs have been climbing in recent years, and buyers are advised to time purchases carefully to avoid paying premium outside promotions. According to TechPowerUp, the price adjustment follows broader trends in the sector.
