Trump Confirms Dell & Murdochs Join Oracle in New TikTok Bid

In an interview on Sunday, 23 September 2025, Trump confirmed, according to CNBC, that the list of potential buyers for TikTok’s U.S. operations has been restructured. The consortium now includes Dell founder Michael Dell alongside Oracle founder Larry Ellison, as well as Fox Corporation chairman Lachlan Murdoch and his father, Rupert Murdoch, representing the Murdoch family.

Trump said the objective of the new group is to secure TikTok’s core algorithm to keep the platform operating in the United States while complying with a 2024 law that mandates divesting roughly 80% of its U.S. holdings to American investors or face a ban. Compared with earlier iterations, the consortium notably excludes Silver Lake Capital and the venture capital firm a16z.

Sources familiar with the matter said the Murdoch family’s involvement goes beyond personal investment, with Fox Corporation expected to join the consortium to reinforce its digital media footprint. White House briefings had also indicated TikTok U.S. would be governed by a seven-member board, six of whom must be American, with Oracle overseeing U.S. user data and privacy.
