Windows 10 Gets a Preview Update with Enterprise-Grade Backup & ESU Fixes
Microsoft has released a new preview update, KB5063842, for Windows 10 version 22H2 to address several known issues, with the fixes expected to roll out in September 2025 Patch Tuesday. The update is published in a testing state and isn’t recommended for gamers or users who prioritise stability in office environments, though IT administrators may deploy it in test environments to check for potential compatibility issues in advance.
The changelog includes fixes for how certain supplementary characters appear in textboxes, improvements to the Chinese Simplified IME, and a new feature that enables customers using the Windows 10 keyless Commercial ESU solution alongside a Windows 365 subscription to block outbound network traffic for compliance with Zero Exhaust policies. Windows Backup for Organisations is now generally available, described as enterprise-grade backup and restore to aid device transitions and business continuity.
How to obtain it: either via Windows Update by checking for updates or by downloading the standalone package from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
