Desjardins data breach: Quebec suspect arrested in Spain

According to City News, a man wanted Canada-wide in connection with a multimillion-dollar fraud and data theft of Desjardins clients was arrested in Spain, with authorities saying he remains in custody there. The Sûreté du Québec says Juan Pablo Serrano, a Canadian citizen of Ecuadorian descent, was arrested on 6 November 2025 and will be extradited to Canada to face charges of fraud, identity theft and trafficking in identity information. He is described as among the province’s most wanted fugitives.

The report notes the arrest followed a Quebec-wide manhunt and that Serrano is expected to face multiple counts related to the breach. City News also indicates he will be extradited to Canada to answer these charges.
