BAE Says No Data Was Taken in Bankruptcy Court Outage
BAE Systems, Inc. has resumed operations of the Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC), the Federal judiciary’s channel for sending notices to all US bankruptcy courts, after a disruption that left the service offline for more than two weeks. A BAE spokesperson told SecurityWeek that “No data was extracted. There was no breach of any PII,” and that the BNC outage did not affect other systems.
Notices stopped flowing around 9 October, with restoration announced as completed by 26–27 October when delayed notices began clearing oldest first, according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AOUSC).
The AOUSC signalled that the outage had been resolved and that normal operations were restored, while the Judicial Conference had declared a “Bankruptcy Rules emergency” on 22 October in response to the disruption, enabling bankruptcy judges to adjust deadlines and related orders. The article notes that neither BAE nor the judiciary had previously disclosed whether any data had been compromised, and that no group has publicly claimed responsibility for the incident. The statement from BAE emphasises that only the BNC was impacted and that no personally identifiable information (PII) was breached.
