RESEARCH by Claroty reveals that nearly 20% of cyber-physical systems in major data centers are easily accessible to attackers via one network connection. Despite only 0.4% of the infrastructure assets being directly internet-exposed, around 18% are one step away from such connections. This poses risks through various vulnerabilities, including insecure protocols and known exploited flaws, particularly affecting HVAC and power distribution systems. Claroty recommends adopting strategies like continuous exposure management and zero trust segmentation to enhance data center security and resilience.
