Hacker Who Stole Millions in Seconds Finally Caught

South Korea has successfully extradited a 29-year-old Lithuanian national accused of stealing approximately $1.8 million in digital assets through sophisticated malware, according to the National Office of Investigation. The NOI announced the extradition on Sunday, following a five-year investigation that spanned multiple countries.

The suspect allegedly used malicious software to redirect cryptocurrency transactions from intended recipients to his own wallets, with the operation targeting users across South Korea and several other nations between April 2020 and January 2023. The report notes that the individual’s alleged activity occurred over an extended period and across borders before the extradition was completed.

This development follows coverage of the case by coinpaper, and the post at DataBreaches[.]Net identifies the source as Newton Gitonga reporting the details.
