Scanner Raises $22 Million for AI-Powered Threat Hunting

SCANNER has announced a $22 million Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital, with additional support from CRV, Mantis VC and angel investors. Founded in 2022 in San Francisco, the company says its platform builds a cloud-native security data lake that enables fast threat hunting and continuous detection and response by connecting AI agents to organisations’ data lakes.

It describes its Model Context Protocol server as linking AI agents to existing security tools and data, enabling interactive investigations, detection engineering and autonomous response workflows. According to Scanner, the system uses inverted indexes created at ingestion to run scans on the data that matters, scaling up during queries and down when idle to reduce costs.

The company says its AI agents can correlate across data sources and provide smart summaries to support investigations, with responses delivered in a fraction of the time compared with traditional SIEMs. “Security teams generate massive amounts of data but can only afford to search a fraction of it,” said Sequoia Capital partner Bogomil Balkansky.
