The MacBook Pro Is Getting an OLED Display, But There’s a Catch

According to The Elec, Apple is preparing to adopt OLED displays in its upcoming MacBook Pro models, set for release next year and replacing the current mini-LED panels. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro OLED screens will be manufactured by Samsung Display, which is expected to be Apple’s sole supplier for these panels. Compared with mini-LED, OLED offers higher brightness, superior contrast, deeper blacks, improved power efficiency and extended battery life.

Samsung aims to begin mass production of the new OLED panels in Q2 2026, with component production in Q1 2026 and prototype units later this year at Samsung’s eighth-generation OLED facility. Initial supply is expected to range between 2–3 million units, with potential ramping to as many as 10 million units annually if demandJustifies it, and the first MacBook Pro models with OLED are not expected until Q4 2026. The article is dated 10 September 2025.
