Microsoft Resolves Bluetooth Audio Problem in Windows 11 24H2 Update
Microsoft has addressed a widespread audio issue affecting Bluetooth speakers, headsets and built-in laptop speakers in Windows 11 version 24H2, caused by an incompatibility with Dirac Audio’s cridspapo.dll. According to Microsoft, the problem arose when Windows 11 tried to load the DLL, which conflicted with the new OS and disabled audio output, prompting a compatibility hold to prevent the 24H2 upgrade on affected devices.
A driver update replacing the faulty component restored full audio support, with the hold lifted on 11 September 2025 and the 24H2 update now being delivered automatically to eligible devices via Windows Update. The company noted the safeguard ID 54283088 could be used by administrators to track the hold, and that users should install the latest security update which includes the fix.
Microsoft first logged the issue on 18 December 2024, and announced the resolution on 12 September 2025 at 13:01 PT, when a new version of the Dirac Audio driver was released through Windows Update.
