AFD Email Breach Exposes 421,000 Messages in Anonymous Online Archive reports that Germany’s Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) confirmed on 19 October 2026 that its hosting provider was hacked in September and mailboxes were copied. An online index published by hexane[.]cc claimed to list about 421,179 internal party emails, though the site provides AI-generated summaries rather than the emails themselves.
The summaries are categorised (for example, racism and antisemitism) with severity ratings from Low to Critical, but none of the summaries have been linked to an original, verifiable email. International Cyber Digest (ICD) noted the index includes the mailbox of Gauland, the party’s honorary chair and former co-leader, with the newest message dated 12 September 2026. Bild corroborated that some material appeared genuine but examined only a small sample.
The AfD’s own account said attackers copied parts of a few mailboxes, most of which had not been used for years, and that leadership accounts were not accessed. The archive’s file names include “afd_exfil,” suggesting data staging prior to transfer. The incident raises questions about authenticity and privacy, given that the site’s summaries are AI-generated and the original texts have not been published.
The leak occurred as the party faces court consideration of its designation as a right‑wing extremist organisation and debates over potential bans. Evidence from the article indicates access via “a single unpatched party website” alleged by the hacker, and the claim that the hosting provider was compromised, though independent verification of entry-method details remains pending.
