NVIDIA’s Newest Acquisition: The AI Programming Startup That’s Set to Reshape Development
NVIDIA has acquired Solver, an AI programming startup founded in 2022, as part of its strategy to strengthen its integrated ecosystem for AI development, according to The Information. Solver, which originally operated as Laredo Labs in San Jose and focuses on AI-assisted programming using natural language prompts, aims to help generate, test, and repair code while managing complete codebases.
The move is designed to push CUDA, NVIDIA AI Enterprise and other software applications more broadly, enabling easier deployment of AI-driven services and driving demand for GPUs. Solver previously raised $8 million in funding and assembled a team with experience on Apple’s Siri and Samsung’s Viv Labs. Beyond Solver, NVIDIA has accelerated its AI software expansion with OctoAI for around $250 million in September 2024, Run:ai for $700 million in December 2024, Brev in July 2024, and Gretel in March 2025.
These acquisitions collectively illustrate NVIDIA’s pattern of integrating software technologies to broaden its enterprise AI offerings.
