Be careful responding to unexpected job interviews

Be careful responding to unexpected job interviews, Malwarebytes warns, after incidents where scam recruiters contacted targets via LinkedIn and followed up with a Gmail-originated email inviting a Zoom interview. The messages describe a virtual meeting and a time to view an invitation, with shortened links that redirect to meetingzs[.]com, a site that has been linked to fake Windows update warnings and to a file named GoToResolveUnattendedUpdater.exe.

Although the file itself isn’t malicious, it can be misused by attackers who abuse LogMeIn Resolve, a remote‑support tool, to install malware or enable ransomware payloads. The broader pattern sees criminals posing as recruiters or trusted contacts to prompt software updates or meetings, which can grant attackers direct access to devices.

To stay safe, keep systems and software updated, verify unsolicited meeting requests independently, and avoid clicking unfamiliar links or downloading attachments from unknown sources, noting URL authenticity in the browser address bar. According to Malwarebytes.
