Before Their Telegram Channel Was Banned Again, ScatteredLAPSUS$Hunters Dropped Files Doxing Government Employees
On 16 and 17 October, the ScatteredLAPSUS$Hunters Telegram channel repeatedly leaked personal information about government employees, including US DOJ/FBI, DOJ/USAO, DHS, and FAA staff. DataBreaches[.]net contacted Telegram about the channel’s ban, and Telegram replied that the channel had been removed for breaching their terms of service, noting that publishing private information is forbidden and that moderators monitor public areas to remove harmful content.
According to Telegram, the channel’s actions prompted removal under their doxxing policy and moderation practices. The .csv files exposed contained 174 FBI employee entries, 197 USAO entries, 680 DHS entries, and 416 FAA entries, each with emails, names, phone numbers, and postal addresses, though not all entries included job titles or dates of hire. DataBreaches[.]net notes that the files appeared unsorted and that it remains unclear who the data originated from or whether it had been leaked before.
