Nearly 250,000 Impacted by Data Breach at Medical Associates of Brevard

Florida-based Medical Associates of Brevard has said its data breach, disclosed in mid-January 2025, impacts nearly 250,000 individuals. The BianLian ransomware group took credit for the January attack, claiming to have stolen personal information, protected health information, as well as emails, databases and documents related to accounting, HR and partners. The organisation submitted a notification to the Maine Attorney General on 5 September, but at the time did not disclose the total number affected.

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services’ data breach tracker, the incident has affected 246,711 people. It remains unclear what has happened to the stolen information.
