Notepad Update Adds Markdown Table Support & Streaming Copilot AI Responses

Notepad has received a fresh update that brings Markdown table support and streaming Copilot AI responses, announced on 24 November 2025. In the latest release, Microsoft has introduced lightweight table support for Markdown within Notepad, allowing users to insert tables directly from the menu and choose the number of rows and columns. The inserted table is rendered in Markdown format and can be switched to plain text mode to copy the table into other Markdown‑compatible applications.

Tables can be expanded or reduced via the right‑click menu, making the editing experience comparable to inserting tables in word processors while remaining straightforward. Additionally, Microsoft Copilot integration has been enhanced with streaming responses for writing, rewriting, and summarisation, enabling instant previews and real‑time interaction, though all AI features require signing in with a Microsoft account and streaming for rewriting is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs that use the device’s local NPU.
