DIG AI: Uncensored Darknet AI Assistant at the Service of Criminals and Terrorists

DIG AI is described as an uncensored darknet AI assistant that Resecurity says is being used by criminals to scale illicit activity on the Tor network, with activity spiking in Q4 2025 and accelerating during the Winter Holidays. According to Resecurity, the tool can facilitate the production of CSAM content by generating hyper-realistic images or videos or by manipulating images of real minors.

The article notes that because DIG AI is hosted on Tor, such tools are not easily discoverable by law enforcement, creating an underground market for piracy, derivatives, and other illicit activities. It also references a 2024 US conviction of a child psychiatrist for producing AI-generated CSAM and mentions that the EU, UK and Australia have enacted laws criminalising AI-generated CSAM regardless of whether real children are depicted.

In 2025, Resecurity collected indicators that AI is already being used by criminals and warns that new high-technology crimes leveraging AI are expected to emerge in 2026 ahead of major events such as the Winter Olympics in Milan and the FIFA World Cup. The piece concludes by urging cybersecurity professionals and law enforcement to prepare for the challenges posed by “the machine” as a new domain of warfare.
