Nevada State Offices Closed Following Disruptive Cyberattack
Nevada state offices were forced to close on Monday and Tuesday after a cyberattack described as a network incident disrupted state websites and phone lines, with emergency services remaining unaffected. The disruptions were disclosed in a post on X, and a statement shared by Governor Joe Lombardo on Tuesday confirmed that a criminal investigation has been launched and that state, local, and federal partners are working to restore affected services.
The Governor’s Technology Office said the incident affected state government systems only and gave no timeline for full restoration, while emphasising that no evidence has been found that personally identifiable information was compromised. State offices are expected to resume in-person services later this week, with staff returning from leave on Tuesday.
As SecurityWeek notes, while long, widespread disruptions are often associated with ransomware, no known ransomware group has claimed responsibility for this incident. according to Governor’s Technology Office.
