BreachForums Owner Sent to Prison in Resentencing
The owner of the cybercrime site BreachForums, Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, 22, of Peekskill, New York, was resentenced to three years in prison for operating BreachForums and possessing child sexual abuse material. He had previously pleaded guilty in July 2023 and was sentenced in January 2024 to time served and 20 years of supervised release, though he remained in jail briefly on pretrial bond after his arrest and again before sentencing.
In January 2025 the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit vacated that sentence and remanded for resentencing. BreachForums, launched in March 2022 and also known as Breached, grew to more than 330,000 members after RaidForums was seized in February 2022, and was noted for selling PII, usernames and passwords, and bank data; the US Department of Justice said the datasets comprised roughly 890 data sets containing over 14 billion records. The US Attorney Erik S.
Siebert said Fitzpatrick personally profited from the sale of vast quantities of stolen information, including child sexual abuse material, and described the human cost as incalculable. After his arrest, a new BreachForums marketplace emerged under the name Baphomet and the ShinyHunters group, which was shut down by law enforcement in May 2024, relaunched two weeks later, and shut down again in April 2025.
