The AI Super-App Rises: Photoshop & Adobe Express Integrate into ChatGPT
OpenAI is expanding its bid for an “AI super-app” by integrating three Adobe tools—Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express—into the ChatGPT platform, following earlier links with Spotify and Canva. The integration, driven by OpenAI’s Model Context Protocol, allows more than 800 million ChatGPT users to invoke Adobe’s capabilities directly in the chat to edit images or handle documents, including in-chat PDF generation and poster creation.
Users can issue natural-language commands such as “brighten this photo for me” or use the in-chat “+” menu to activate Adobe tools, with ChatGPT executing the requests through Adobe’s services. Photoshop’s in-chat interface even generates interactive sliders for exposure, shadows and highlights, or a set of relevant filter options, giving users granular control rather than a black-box result.
The collaboration is described by Adobe’s Aubrey Cattell as a way to treat MCP tools and command sets as “Lego bricks,” with ChatGPT interpreting user intent and assembling workflows, while OpenAI’s Apps SDK is likened to an operating system for Adobe’s apps. Published on 12 December 2025.
