Fusion of Power: Trump Media Inks $6 Billion Merger to Build World’s First Fusion Power Plant

Trump Media, the group behind Truth Social, plans to merge with TAE Technologies in a deal valued at up to $6 billion, according to Financial Times. The transaction aims to create what the parties describe as the world’s first utility-scale nuclear fusion power plant, with the merger framed around an ambitious five-year timeline touted by TAE Technologies’ chief executive Michl Binderbauer.

The deal is structured as an all-stock transaction, and Trump Media has said it would provide TAE with access to substantial capital, including a $300 million cash injection, while Trump Media’s own market valuation has been volatile and at times significant. The merger comes as Trump Media reported a quarterly loss of $55 million, and observers remain sceptical within the physics community that stable, commercially viable fusion is achievable in the near term.

Critics have suggested that the strategic upside of the deal may lie in political influence rather than immediate technological breakthroughs. 19 December 2025. according to Financial Times
