Ukrainian Teen Sentenced for Sharing Military Data with Russian Spy

A Ukrainian court has sentenced a 16-year-old girl for transmitting data about military facilities to a Russian intelligence officer who paid 3,802 hryvnias for it, according to Mezha[.]net. In Khmelnytskyi, the Khmelnytskyi City District Court found her guilty of Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for disseminating information about the movement and location of military and defence facilities that could be used by the adversary.

Under the law, the offender faced eight to twelve years in prison, but under a plea agreement she received five years of imprisonment, which was replaced with two years of probation. The verdict required periodic registration, reporting changes of residence or study, and not travelling outside Ukraine without permission, among other probation programme measures. After the verdict was announced, she was released from the courtroom, with the probation conditions to be complied with. The report notes the court described the facts of cooperation with a foreign agent in the verdict text.
