Update: Kering confirms Gucci and other brands hacked; claims no conversations with hackers?

DataBreaches[.]net reports that, after initial coverage on 11 September, it has seen samples and chat logs suggesting that ShinyHunters hacked Kering brands including Gucci, Balenciaga, Brioni and Alexander McQueen, with claims of more than 43 million Gucci records and almost 13 million across the Balenciaga, Brioni and Alexander McQueen datasets combined.

A Kering spokesperson did not respond to DataBreaches’ questions, but Kering issued a statement through LeMagIT stating that in June 2025 a non‑authorised third party briefly accessed certain limited customer data and that the brands alerted authorities and informed customers in line with local regulations, emphasising that no financial information or Personal Identification Numbers were compromised.

The article notes chat logs allegedly showing negotiations with a Balenciaga representative and a ransom of 500,000 euros, followed by Kering going quiet, which DataBreaches says contradicts Kering’s denial of conversations or ransom payments. It also highlights inconsistencies, such as ShinyHunters’ broader claims versus Kering’s public statements, and notes there is no disclosed total number of affected individuals. The piece ends by inviting affected customers to share breach notifications.
