Dutch phone giant Odido says millions of customers affected by data breach

ODIDO , the Dutch phone company, has confirmed that a data breach affected more than 6.2 million customers, roughly a third of the Netherlands’ population. The company said in a statement that unidentified hackers gained access to its customer contact system and covertly downloaded large amounts of customer information.

The stolen data include names, phone numbers, postal and email addresses, dates of birth, bank account numbers (IBAN), and details of government-issued IDs such as passport or driver’s licence numbers and dates of validity. The disclosure notes that the breach involved access to customer contact data and that the attackers exfiltrated information from Odido’s systems. The story is reported by DataBreaches[.]Net, citing the company’s statement and a local Dutch media source.
