THE alleged LeakBase administrator has been arrested by Russian law enforcement authorities, according to TASS and MVD Media. The suspect, said to be from the city of Taganrog, is accused of creating and running a site that allowed stolen personal databases to be traded since 2021, with technical equipment and other items seized at the residence.

The platform hosted hundreds of millions of user accounts, bank details, usernames and passwords, and corporate documents obtained through hacking, with more than 147,000 users registered on the forum able to buy, sell or use the data to commit fraud, per Irina Volk of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. LeakBase was dismantled in a law enforcement operation earlier this month, and the DoJ has described the forum as one of the world’s largest hubs for cybercriminals to trade stolen data and tools. The site reportedly had over 142,000 members and more than 215,000 messages as of December 2025.
