Personal Information of 33.7 Million Stolen From Coupang

Coupang has disclosed a five-month data breach exposing the personal information of 33.7 million Korean customers, including names, email addresses, shipping addresses, and phone numbers, though no payment details or login credentials were exposed. The incident came to light on 18 November 2025 after Coupang became aware of unauthorized access to roughly 4,500 customer accounts.

The company said the breach involved about 33.7 million accounts, all in Korea, with access gained to customer data on 24 June 2025 via overseas servers. Coupang has notified the relevant authorities in Korea and said affected individuals would be contacted by email or text as part of the incident notice. According to Yonhap News Agency, a former Coupang employee, a Chinese national, is the main suspect in the investigation. The company emphasised that protecting customer information remains its top priority and that no payment details or credentials were exposed.
