Anchorage police department takes servers offline after cyberattack on service provider
The Anchorage Police Department took a range of actions after a cyberattack on its technology service provider, according to Jonathan Greig. A police department spokesperson told Recorded Future News that the incident involved data migration firm Whitebox Technologies, which alerted the police to a security incident on 7 January. The city’s IT department shut down the relevant APD servers and disabled the vendor and all third-party service provider access. As of publication, there is no statement on Whitebox’s website and no ransomware gang appears to have claimed credit for the attack. Read more at The Record.
