Years Late: Apple Finally Launches Full Web-Based App Store Homepage with Search & Discovery

Apple has unveiled a revamped web-based App Store homepage with a fully featured search and discovery experience, marking a shift from years of relying on individual app description pages rather than a central storefront. The new interface offers platform-specific toggle buttons so users can switch between iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS to view trending or Apple-recommended apps for each device, and it introduces a Today section with curated selections and thematic categories.

A dedicated search function lets users look up apps directly and view detailed results with screenshots and descriptions in an App Store–like layout. The site also supports sharing app links, and if signed in with an Apple ID, users can see whether an app is installed on their device and open it directly from a browser on iOS.

The article notes that it remains unclear why Apple has chosen to launch a full web homepage after so many years, suggesting the redesign may aim to boost discovery and engagement across the ecosystem.
