Figma CEO: AI Won’t Steal Jobs, It Will Unlock Higher-Value Work

Figma CEO Dylan Field has publicly stated that artificial intelligence does not pose a threat to human employment but rather opens new avenues for industrial growth, a view rooted in a September company survey. According to Figma’s survey of 1,199 professionals—including designers, product managers, and developers—approximately 70% reported a significant boost in productivity due to AI, while nearly 60% of product creators said they could now devote more time to high-value tasks.

The findings come as Field emphasised in a podcast that the true value of AI lies in assisting, not replacing, humans, urging individuals to adapt to technological progress and move away from repetitive labour. Figma, founded in 2012 and headquartered in San Francisco, went public in July, and its workforce exceeds 1,600 employees, with a market capitalisation approaching $30 billion.

The company is pursuing AI to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, while prioritising opportunities for growth unlocked by AI across departments. Field has consistently argued that AI should amplify human creativity, with designers remaining the guiding force in the creative process.
