Personalized AI: Gemini’s Deep Research Now Accesses Your Gmail & Google Drive Data

On 8 November 2025, it was announced that Google’s Deep Research feature in Gemini will extend its reach to users’ personal Google Workspace data, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, and Google Chat. According to Google, integrating personal Workspace data is “one of the most requested features by users.” The update means Gemini can access and synthesise data from emails, Slides, Docs, Sheets, PDF files stored in Drive, and chat histories as reference material, enabling more personalised reports.

Users will retain full control, with a dropdown menu when activating the Deep Research tool to individually enable or restrict access to data from Search, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat. The enhanced Deep Research feature will be available to all users free of charge, with desktop rollout already complete and mobile support for iOS and Android expected to arrive in the coming days.
