According to SecurityWeek, Central Maine Healthcare is notifying over 145,000 patients that their personal, treatment, and health insurance information was compromised in a data breach. The incident was discovered on 1 June 2025 after detecting unusual activity on its IT network, and the intrusion spanned several months between March and June 2025.

The organisation, aided by third‑party cybersecurity experts, completed its investigation on 6 November, and the number of affected individuals was later revealed to have reached 145,381. Central Maine Healthcare began notifying potentially affected individuals on 31 July, with the latest round of notices issued on 29 December, and it set up a toll‑free incident response line plus one year of credit and identity theft monitoring services.

The provider, which operates facilities in Maine and was acquired by Prime Healthcare Foundation in 2025, said it enhanced its monitoring and alerting capabilities to prevent similar incidents.
