CATALIN Dragomir, a 45-year-old Romanian hacker, was sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in a U.S. prison for selling unauthorized access to an Oregon state emergency management network. Dragomir gained access in June 2021 and marketed it online for a $3,000 Bitcoin transaction. He admitted to repeatedly accessing the network to prove his control and provided potential buyers with personal identifiable information. His actions caused over $250,000 in damages to various U.S. victims.

Dragomir was arrested in Romania in November 2024, extradited in January 2025, and pleaded guilty to charges including identity theft, with sentencing finalized in May 2026.
