Thousands of medical records found in auctioned storage unit

Thousands of medical records containing sensitive patient information were discovered in a Memphis storage unit that went up for auction after the owner failed to pay rent for three months. Lederfine described opening the unit and seeing file folders, patient records, X-rays, and billing documents containing patients’ information, including social security numbers. After the dentist was contacted about the situation, he reportedly paid what was due for the storage unit. Read more at Action News 5.
