THE US government has seized nearly 400 internet domains involved in the illegal streaming of FIFA World Cup matches as part of a crackdown on digital piracy, known as Operation Offsides. The operation targeted unnamed criminal organizations and was supported by the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center and international partners. These websites were found to be violating US copyright laws.
The DOJ highlighted the significant impact of these actions, stating that over $350 million in victim funds from cybercriminals have been seized since 2020. Users are advised to access official broadcasters for safe viewing, as illegal streaming can expose them to security risks.
