The Ubiquitous Brain: Arm Unveils the Era of Physical AI and AI-Defined Platforms
At CES 2026, Arm positioned its Computing Platform at the vanguard of a new era, describing 2025 as a watershed moment and predicting that by 2026 artificial intelligence will be an omnipresent feature of daily life, driven by a fusion of Physical AI and Edge AI. Arm says these paradigms are converging rapidly, with Physical AI enabling autonomous vehicles and robotics to interpret the physical world and Edge AI moving computation from the cloud to the edge to reduce latency and protect privacy.
The showcase highlighted Industry interests in software-defined to AI-defined platforms, citing Rivian’s autonomous driving platform based on Arm architecture and Tesla’s next‑generation AI5 chip, which Arm says delivers a 40‑fold performance increase over its predecessor. The event also pointed to NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor and the NVIDIA DGX SparkAI workstation, the latter with a GB10 superchip that contains 20 Arm cores for on‑desk large‑scale model work.
In consumer tech, Windows on Arm has gained traction with more than 100 new models anticipated this year, while wearables and smart home devices—including Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and the Oura Ring 4—demonstrate on‑device AI in power‑constrained form factors. Arm concludes that future intelligence will be embedded across the tech landscape, anchored by its architecture as the foundation for ubiquitous intelligence.
