Police Disrupt 'Cryptomixer,' Seize Millions in Crypto

On December 1, 2025, Europol announced the disruption of 'Cryptomixer,' a cryptocurrency mixing service used by cybercriminals to launder money from ransomware and other illegal activities. The operation, conducted by German and Swiss law enforcement, resulted in the seizure of three servers, the cryptomixer.io domain, over 12TB of data, and more than 25 million euros in Bitcoin. Cryptomixer was known for facilitating the obfuscation of criminal funds, having mixed over 1.3 billion euros since 2016.

Despite the takedown, experts warn that ransomware attacks remain prevalent, but such disruptions create challenges for cybercriminals, forcing them to adapt their methods.
