LinkedIn to Use Your Data for AI Training. Here’s How to Opt Out

LinkedIn has begun notifying users that, from 3 November 2025, it will start using member data to train its artificial intelligence models, including data from those in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. According to LinkedIn, the move is intended to help recruiters identify and connect with candidates, while contributing to a broader public benefit.

Policies will vary by jurisdiction, and for users in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, personal information will not be shared with LinkedIn affiliates such as Microsoft for AI training purposes, though data in other regions may be shared more broadly.

Users who wish to opt out should go to LinkedIn Settings → Data Privacy → Data for Generative AI Improvements and disable the option “Use my data for training content creation AI models.” Once disabled, new user-generated data will not be fed into model training, but data already collected cannot be erased and will remain in existing AI models. Private content explicitly marked as private will not be used for AI training.
