South Korea investigates leak of president's trip entourage data
The Korean presidential office convened an emergency meeting on 3 November 2026 to address the leak of personal information relating to President Lee Jae Myung and members of his overseas trip entourage in June. The session, chaired by presidential chief of staff Lim Kwang-hyun, followed reports that a computer file containing the personal details of the entourage had been uploaded to a publicly accessible website in the same month. The disclosures reportedly affected a wide circle associated with the president’s visit.
Those named as affected include the first lady, then presidential policy chief Kim Yong-beom, National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac, government ministers, presidential officials and journalists, according to Yonhap News. The report notes that the leak involved a file describing individuals connected to the president’s June trip and that the matter was raised publicly earlier in the month.
The briefing highlights the government’s need to investigate how the data came to be exposed and who accessed or downloaded the information, while the presidential office confirmed the existence of the emergency meeting and the concern over the data release. Yonhap News is cited for the detailed listing of those purportedly affected.
