Salesforce Tells Clients It Won’t Pay Hackers for Extortion
Salesforce Inc. has told clients that it will not pay a ransom demand from hackers claiming to have stolen data, according to an email seen by Bloomberg News. The company said in a security notification that it had received “credible threat intelligence” indicating a hacking group known as ShinyHunters planned to share information stolen during a security incident earlier in the year involving a number of its customers.
The breach involved the third‑party app SalesLoft, specifically its Drift integration, which automates customer service interactions and is used by organisations that rely on Salesforce. Allen Tsai, a Salesforce spokesperson, said the company won’t engage with, negotiate with or pay any extortion demand. Read more at Bloomberg.
