Google’s Android October Patch Fixes 7 Critical Security Flaws

GOOGLE’S Android October 2026 update patches 25 vulnerabilities across Framework and System components, effective with the 2026-10-01 security patch level. The release consolidates fixes that in previous years were split into two parts, resolving seven flaws in Framework and 18 in System. Of these, seven are rated critical in total: one in Framework and six in System.

Google’s advisory notes that the most severe issue is a System component vulnerability that could enable local privilege escalation without user interaction or additional execution privileges.

Breaking down the impact, the Framework fixes include two DoS and five elevation-of-privilege flaws. In System, Google patched eight EoP issues, five DoS bugs, one remote code execution flaw, and four information-disclosure issues. The advisory also mentions three defects addressed via Google Play system updates, including one in Telephonycore and two in WiFi.

Beyond Android devices, Pixel devices received fixes for six vulnerabilities capable of causing EoP and information disclosure, with three critical-severity issues affecting Bluetooth, GDMC, and GSA components. The Android Automotive OS update covers all bugs resolved in the Android October 2026 patch and adds fixes for five additional high-severity EoP bugs.

Google states that no exploitation in the wild is noted, but users are urged to apply the updates promptly to mitigate risk.
