State of Nevada Faces IT Outage Amid Cyberattack, Offices Suspended

The State of Nevada faced a substantial IT outage after a cyberattack that, as authorities noted, disrupted government infrastructure across multiple agencies. As of 25 August 2025, numerous state offices had halted public-facing operations and suspended in-person services while systems were being securely restored. Connectivity to several state websites and phone lines was inconsistent, with forensics and remediation work ongoing as IT teams worked to contain the incident.

An official memo related to the network security incident dated 24 August 2025 was released, and a statement from the Governor’s Press Office on 25 August 2025 indicated that while the breach was serious, the preliminary evidence suggested no indication that personally identifiable information had been compromised.

According to Governor’s Telecom and Technology Office (GTO), a rapid, coordinated recovery operation is underway, including temporary routing plans and careful system revalidation before reconnecting affected technology to the main state network. Authorities urged vigilance against scams during the outage as the public awaits phased service restoration.
