Russian hackers target IVF clinics across UK used by thousands of couples

Russian hackers targeted IVF clinics across the UK that are used by thousands of couples, with the London Women’s Clinic confirming a breach carried out by the ransomware gang Qilin. The clinic, which offers IVF, egg freezing and other fertility treatments at 17 centres, serves NHS patients among its users who may have been at risk of exposure to private medical data. The breach is believed to have occurred on 19 October, when the group posted about it on its dark web channels, according to Metro.

DataBreaches[.]Net notes that the incident followed Metro’s reporting on the data exposure, underscoring the potential reach of the intrusion among patients and clinics nationwide. The article also highlights that the breach involved access to sensitive medical information, raising concerns for thousands of couples seeking fertility services.
