AI Mode Upgraded: Google Launches Canvas for Planning and Agentic Booking for Reservations

According to Google, AI Mode has been upgraded with a suite of new tools and expanded capabilities to handle increasingly complex everyday tasks. The company says the AI-enhanced search tool Flight Deals, which sits within Google Flights, will graduate from beta to a full global rollout, while a new feature called Canvas is being introduced to support planning and project management.

In the United States, AI Mode’s abilities are being extended to act on users’ behalf, enabling tasks such as restaurant reservations, event ticket purchases, and bookings for beauty or wellness appointments. A key highlight is Canvas, described as an organisational space for building plans and managing projects, which Google emphasises as useful for travel planning by allowing users to describe a trip and have the AI propose destinations, hotels and booking details within a single interface.

This marks Google’s continued push toward more agentic applications across its ecosystem, following recent AI-driven shopping features including agentic checkout.
