POLAND has reported another cyberattack affecting the healthcare sector, weeks after a separate incident reportedly exposed the personal information of almost 19 million people. The latest incident involved Qbusoft, the company behind Medyc software, which is used by Polish healthcare providers to manage patient records and other medical information.
The Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Treatment Center in Inowrocław said on Thursday that the attack had breached the confidentiality of patients’ personal data. The potentially affected information may have included contact details and national identification numbers. Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said the Central Office for Combating Cybercrime was investigating the “potential cybersecurity incident” as part of a broader investigation.
The available report does not say whether the same attacker was responsible for both incidents, and it does not disclose whether a ransom demand was made.
