Mon General hospital reports patient data breach from phishing

MONONGALIA County General Hospital, known as Mon General, experienced a phishing attack that may have compromised personal and medical information of some patients. The breach was discovered on May 6 and targeted a few email accounts. The hospital initiated an investigation with a forensic security provider and secured the affected accounts on the same day. The investigation, concluded in late June 2026, confirmed no other systems were impacted. Potentially compromised information includes names, dates of birth, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, and health-related details.
