Man arrested in UK over alleged cyberattack that affected European airports

According to AP reports, a man in his 40s was arrested in southern England over an alleged cyberattack that disrupted several European airports in recent days, including London Heathrow. The U.K.’s National Crime Agency said the suspect was held in West Sussex on Tuesday on suspicion of offences involving the misuse of computers and was released on conditional bail. Paul Foster, head of the NCA’s national cybercrime unit, described the arrest as a positive step while noting that the investigation remains ongoing.

In related reporting, the ransomware has been reportedly identified as a variant of Hardbit ransomware, although that has not been confirmed by Collins Aerospace. The data breach site notes the incident affected multiple European airports, with Heathrow cited among those impacted. Read more at Ottumwa Courier, which carried the linked reporting.
