UEFI CA 2023 Shift Causes Update Blocks on Enterprise PCs

Microsoft held a technical community exchange regarding the UEFI CA 2023 certificate update, attended by major hardware manufacturers. The transition from the expired UEFI CA 2011 certificate to the new one has raised concerns among enterprise IT administrators due to manual update requirements, which could block future updates if ignored. While some consumer devices upgrade smoothly, many enterprise devices struggle with compatibility issues, particularly older models that do not meet hardware requirements.

HP's response highlighted device-specific challenges, including issues with BIOS updates triggering BitLocker recovery loops. There is a demand for improved BIOS support from Microsoft and OEMs to facilitate smoother migrations, as many devices may miss crucial security updates.
