Chainguard launches Athena to guard open source from AI threats

CHAINGUARD , an open-source security firm, has launched a coalition called Athena with partners including JPMorgan, BNY, and Cisco to protect open-source software from AI threats. This initiative aims to share vulnerability intelligence and create solutions to address vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. The coalition will enhance cybersecurity through coordinated disclosures and private patching. Athena is operational and has already processed over 20,000 findings and issued over 2,000 patches. The initiative aligns with efforts from the US government to improve AI security.
