BASIC-FIT , Europe's largest gym and fitness chain, reported a data breach impacting about 1 million members, with personal information including names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and bank account details compromised. The breach was detected and blocked quickly, but the unauthorized access allowed a hacker to download data from active members in various countries including the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
Basic-Fit clarified that no identification documents or passwords were involved in the breach and stated there is no evidence of data being leaked or misused.
